Detailed Job Description
Since HIT prefers not to assign projects to contractors, you are expected to log into our project database (The Center) and choose for yourself what projects you would like to work on. Every project is tied to a specific skill set and tier. You will only be able to accept projects matching your skill sets and tier. For example, many of our projects require knowledge of Adobe Flash or other specialized skills. If you wish to acquire additional skill sets you must pass additional tests. HIT also uses a tier system that is based primarily on experience, and excellence in customer communication.
Heritage Internet Technologies prides itself on creating professional, custom websites. As a designer for HIT, you will be expected to conduct a design interview with our clients for every project you work on. You will be expected to respond to any customer questions relating to your design work, including estimated timeframes for project completion.
In developing websites you are responsible for:
- Creating the appearance of the site in Photoshop
- Building the site structure using W3C compliant HTML and CSS
- Implementing a HIT provided image gallery on each site
- Uploading all project-related content files, including stock photography, unique fonts, code snippets, etc., to HIT’s content management system
- Ensuring the site appears and functions properly in both Internet Explorer and Firefox (all versions)

* Site enhancements are additional features for a site that were not sold to the customer at the point of sale. These items, such as Flash, databases, galleries, etc. are items that help the customer's site stand out, but were either not discussed at the point of sale, or the customer had decided to wait to purchase the item until a later date. Typically, you will receive 10% of the purchase price for any items you sell but there are some exceptions where a flat rate is paid instead.
