About the HIT™ Site Content Writer Freelance Position
Without effective words a website is just a collection of pretty pictures. HIT Web Design is an industry leader in custom web design and hosting and we’re looking for writers with the ability to make the ordinary sound extraordinary. We need talented writers to fulfill a range of Internet-related writing assignments for our nationwide customer base.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel)
- Strong editing and proofreading abilities
- Knowledge of SEO, keywords
- Some Internet marketing experience preferred
A few of the job expectations include:
- Contact client by phone within 24 hours of accepting a project
- Maintain phone contact with client at least twice a week for project duration
- Interview each client to understand what information the client would like for each page of purchased writing
- Provide one content revision, if requested by client

Detailed Job Description
As a 1099 contractor for HIT you may work on a variety of different writing projects. Our most common writing assignments involve composing text for websites. Additionally, you may write blog articles, press releases, news articles, and more. If you possess excellent writing skills in a foreign language you may be able to accept some translation projects as well.
You are expected to log into our project database (The Center) and choose for yourself what projects you would like to work on. Every project is tied to a specific skill set and you will only be able to accept projects matching your skill sets.
Most of your time will be spent researching specific industries and composing text that reflects the customer’s needs. Many of our customers purchase writing services because they are not sure what they should say on their site or how to say it. For that reason, you’ll conduct a customer interview for every project you choose to work on.
Your completed writing assignment will need to be approved by our internal quality control process before you may present it to the client for approval. HIT requires all work to be original and adhere to U.S. copyright laws. If you are caught plagiarizing content your contract will be terminated.

* Site enhancements are additional features for a site that were not sold to the customer at the point of sale. These items, such as Flash, databases, galleries, etc. are items that help the customer's site stand out, but were either not discussed at the point of sale, or the customer had decided to wait to purchase the item until a later date. Typically, you will receive 10% of the purchase price for any items you sell but there are some exceptions where a flat rate is paid instead.
